The thing that never ceases to amaze us is the variety of different schedules that doctors work. There are regular days, late days, early days, half-days, Mondays off, Fridays off, when this other guy works — or when he doesn’t, etc, etc. As impossible as it may seem, DocMeIn has evolved to address almost all of these various scenarios.
To set up your practice calendar, you first define calendar start and end hours in Calendar Settings. This will control the range of hours displayed in the calendar view. The hours that each physician is available to see patients are managed separately, through the Business Hours settings. Each doctor’s hours are independent of all others.
This is all great if you work the same hours each week. For those of us who take vacations or — more often — have their own doctors to see, there are overrides. This is where the flexibility in our scheduling system really shines. With the holiday season upon us, we would like to highlight this feature for you.
While on the Business Hours page, you can specify the days when your schedule is different from what it is on a normal week. By entering overrides, you can change your availability for a particular day. You can make yourself more available or less — in a way that is entirely up to you.
If you plan to spend Christmas Day with your family, don’t forget to set up an override today to prevent new appointments from piling in!
